Could this be the official site plan for the new Barrhaven Costco ?
If it smells like a duck and walks like a duck…
The following site plan illustrates what might be being built at the corner of Strandherd and Marivista in Barrhaven. As highlighted in yellow (click on the graphic to see it in its original size), the plan shows a rather large retail building with what could well be a gas bar. It pretty much looks like it could be the new Barrhaven Costco store to me. And it would be in line with other rumors we’ve heard.
Let us know what you think in the comments section. Is this the real deal? Is Costco finally coming to Barrhaven?

Finally something at this end of Barrhaven!! And with the gas bar – truly hope this plan is the real deal!
Not impressed! We’ve got enough people racing down Maravista at 90 Km while children play around the pond located there. Not wise, they should move it closer to the Home Depot or Jockvale. Plus, I’ve seen enough wildlife squished on the road including ducklings. This should not be a through street for people to race down and the Costco is just going to add to this already frustrating situation.
I share your concerns about traffic speed in residential areas. The solution is not lower speeds – 40km/h is a safe speed for residential streets. The problem is that we don’t enforce existing speed limits. Additional enforcement is needed, especially near school zones.
I agree, I feel like those of us on Maravista and surrounding streets really should have been consulted.
