Cirque Mechanics Reinvents Circus for Today’s Crowd
BMX Bikes, doroSpectacular Acrobats and Steampunk Props Make Pedal Punk the Real Deal
An unforgettable show experience unlike any other: dazzling twirl of acrobats, cyclists and astonishing, one‐of‐a‐kind machines! Founded by BMX rider, acrobat and mechanical genius Chris Lashua, the amusing Cirque Mechanics perform a show inspired by steampunk culture.
On Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 7:30PM, Cirque Mechanics will present their Pedal Punk circus show at Centrepointe Theatres. Pedal Punk is a steam punk experience that will charm you with its story and thrill you with its daring; a rowdy circus where the mischief is on wheels.
You’ll encounter unicycles that fly, wheel acrobats that hover, cyclists that whirl, pole climbers that soar, and trapeze artists that float! Don’t miss the massive, mysterious apparatus called the Gantry Bike as it travels around the stage like a modern caravan. Cirque Mechanics brings fresh storytelling technique to the circus, while staying true to its industrialist aesthetic and its gift for amazing audiences of all ages.

- There are approximately 90 wheels on stage in Pedal Punk.

apparatus, weighs 3,000 lbs. with artists on board, yet it can be pedaled by just 2 people. - The Gantry Bike steers like a bulldozer or a tank.
- It takes a team of 4 people 1 1/2 hours to build the Gantry Bike. It also takes 1 1/2 hours to pack up the whole show.
- The Gantry Bike has a top speed of 5 mph and can be pedaled indoors and outdoors.
- The cast of Pedal Punk is made up of 10 artists: dancers, trampolinists, aerialists, a BMX rider, a juggler and clown, a rhythmic gymnast, a contortionist and a stilt‐walking stuntman.
- It took one year to create Pedal Punk.
- The entire show fits in one 26’ truck.
