EnviroCentre Hosting Barrhaven Let’s Bike Month Event
|EnviroCentre, an Ottawa-based environmental non-profit whose goal is to support Ottawa’s residents to find ways to live more sustainably, is currently preparing for its 16th edition of Let’s Bike Month. The campaign runs throughout the month of June with a goal of encouraging people to bike for more community trips – and this year they are taking their route planning knowledge directly to you!
Discover Your Ward by Bike: Barrhaven is a FREE, in-person workshop which will take a small group on a guided bike ride around Barrhaven West on June 5th at 10am, leaving from the Walter Baker Sports Centre. They are pleased to announce that the event will be joined by Barrhaven Councillor David Hill!
Along the way the tour will stop at different pieces of cycling infrastructure, points of interest, and teach all the skills to start planning your own route around your neighbourhood. The ride will cover approximately 5km at a slow pace, and will make use of a combination of separated cycling infrastructure, on-road cycling infrastructure, and residential streets. There is one hill at the start, but they will offer the option to participants to walk their bikes up the hill if they prefer. Otherwise, the ride should be fairly flat.
Participants will need to bring their own bikes and helmets, and will be asked to sign a waiver prior to participation.
Please register now, or share with your networks, or with someone you know will be interested!
Registration for the event is now open at https://LetsBikeBarrhavenWest.eventbrite.ca
We hope to see you there!
