A fun Barrhaven Halloween event in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association
Jenna Swinwood of Jenna & Co are proud to be hosting the 4th annual Running Scared, a 1.5km, 10km and 15km run, being held on October 25, 2014 from 8:30-12:00 am starting at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa.
This local event was started in 2011 to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association. We wanted to offer an affordable run and involve the south Barrhaven communities of Stonebridge and Half Moon Bay. All proceeds from the run were and will be donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Each year the run has been getting larger and more successful and have included participants from the Barrhaven community and across the City of Ottawa. Last year we had over 450 runners of all ages as we welcomed schools and sports teams to take part as well. We encouraged dressing up as it was a Halloween run, and gave away prizes for best costumes in each division. Along with that, we awarded medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to the runners in each division, t-shirts, a great runner’s kit and after run snacks.
This year we’ve made some important changes to the race. It is now a chip timed race, and we’ve added a 15k route. Registration and post run events will be held inside at the Capital Memorial Gardens. We also have a fabulous new website which you can visit at www.runningscaredottawa.com! We’ve been very fortunate to have some significant partners/sponsorships including: Capital Memorial Gardens, Loblaws Barrhaven Market, Widgetized Web Inc., Broker Link, as well as many other businesses and volunteers.
To register, please click on the following link: http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=10710 or visit our new website at www.runningscaredottawa.com for more information on the run and registration. Hope to see you on October 25th – don’t forget your costume!
