House Hunt: Fundraising campaign for the Sens Foundation
Win a down payment on a house: Tickets just $25
Ottawa, Ontario, March 13, 2016 – For the first time in Ottawa, ticket holders can win a $15,000 down payment on a new house. The innovative fundraiser for the Ottawa Senators Foundation on May 7th features a scavenger race to seal the deal! Ticket sales opened today and ballots are $25 each.
The event is organized by two local women who saw the need of people who can afford monthly mortgage costs but can’t pull together a down payment. A similar charity fundraiser in the United States saw thousands turn out for the chance to own a home.
Colleen Lyle, Team Lead and Sales Representative for the Colleen Lyle Real Estate Team at Keller Williams Ottawa Realty and Mortgage Agent Sue Hameed, Capital Mortgages (#M13000637) are organizing the fundraiser in partnership with the Ottawa Senators Foundation to help kids go to camp. The Campership Program allows more than 1,100 children and youth, aged 4 to 17, from 36 communities in Eastern Ontario and 10 communities in Western Quebec, to attend camp this summer over a 5 to 12 day session.
“Colleen and I share the same passion – we want to help people,” said Sue Hameed. “We are beyond thrilled to be able to offer this life changing opportunity because we realize that sometimes people just need a break to achieve their dreams of owning a house.”
Colleen Lyle adds, “Buying groceries, raising families and saving enough for a down payment is usually a tough balance for most people. We’d like to take someone from renting to owning.”
House Hunt, an event that is the first of its kind in Ottawa takes place from 2pm to 4pm May 7th at the Crazy Horse in the Kanata Centrum plaza. Ticket holders will compete in a one-hour scavenger hunt throughout the area.
People can register to participate in House Hunt 2016 at www.ottawahousehunt.ca.
“Mixing fun with giving back is what its all about!!!” adds Colleen. We have been very fortunate to have great sponsors on board for this event, in particular Loving Paws a wonderful company that visits local homes to provide professional dog walking, pet sitting, and house sitting Services.
