Domino’s Barrhaven is raising money for Cystic Fibrosis by attempting a pizza stretching record

Support the Community, Break a Record, & Raise some Dough for Cystic Fibrosis Canada!

Dominos Barrhaven Pizza Record
At Domino’s Barrhaven we are very grateful to have been deemed essential and able to operate throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We recognize that this has been a privilege and we feel that we need to give back to our community and inject a bit of fun into this current state of self-isolation. Here is what we are doing.

The Event

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, local Domino’s Franchisee, Adam McGregor, will be attempting to set a new Domino’s record for the most pizzas stretched in one hour. Another Ottawa franchisee recently set the record at 293 pizzas, so we have set our goal at 300 in an attempt to beat it! Due to the fun and challenging nature of the event, we will be live-streaming the whole hour on our Domino’s Barrhaven Facebook and Instagram live feeds, starting at 10:30am. We are committed to sending up to half of these pizzas (for free) to local businesses who are willing to accept the pizzas for your hardworking staff who have all persevered over the last few weeks. The remaining pizzas will be open to the public to purchase by donation from 11am-12pm.

The Cause

All money generated through donations and the sale of these pizzas will be given to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. We have chosen this initiative in support of “Lily’s Legends”, a local family that has raised approximately $18,000 for CF Canada over the last few years. Their daughter, Lily, lives with cystic fibrosis and is the reason behind their mission. We first connected with Lily’s legends in May 2019, at their annual fundraising garage sale where we sold pizza slices for donations. Due to Covid-19, they are unable to host this yearly event, so we wanted to provide help in a different way for their “Walk to make Cystic Fibrosis History” fundraising efforts.

The Pizza!

Please reach out to us at ottawavalleydominos@gmail.com or 819-639-2874 if you are willing to accept some free pizzas as a treat for your staff! We will have lots of help to deliver pizzas to you or you may send a representative to pick them up. We really want to give back to our community and we hope that you will reach out and accept as many pizzas as your staff can handle. The pizzas will all be small cheese pizzas, as per the challenge guidelines, and they will be cut into 4 (good for 1-2 people each). All products will be handled as per Covid-19 instructions, made while wearing a face mask, cooked in a 450-degree oven, boxed with clean gloves, face mask, and a tamper-proof seal, and finally delivered contact-free by masked drivers. Our ability to remain open is directly tied to our strict operations and hourly sanitization schedules.
We understand that these are challenging times for all however we want to make this a fun, engaging event for everyone to be able to watch virtually. Please spread the word, tune in live, and if you are able, please consider donating anything at all to our Facebook page fundraiser.
