Ross’s Independent Grocer hosting a store tour for Diabetics
A few post ago I wrote about Running Scared, a fun community event taking place this weekend in support of the Canadian Diabetes association. Today, I want to share another important event that will be of interest to both those who have diabetes or care for someone who suffers from the disease.
On Tuesday October 28th, from 1pm until 2pm, Ross’s Independent Grocers in Barrhaven will be hosting a Diabetes store tour to help people with this condition make better nutritional choices to help control their blood sugar levels. The tour will be led by a qualified dietitian who will help you learn how to shop the food aisles in a diabetes friendly way.

The city of Ottawa provides great support for those diagnosed with diabetes in the form of education clinics held right here in Barrhaven. Diabetes can be successfully controlled with a combination of medications, exercise and proper nutrition. But it’s not always easy to select foods that are on the correct end of the glycemic index. Having the opportunity to visit a grocery store with a dietitian who specializes in diabetic nutrition can help you or your loved ones make the right decisions for your health.
If you, or someone you know suffers from diabetes, please take a minute to share this post with them. This is a unique opportunity to help them with some of the most important decisions they need to make every day – choosing the right foods for their diet.
