A great new app to help Barrhaven residents cash in at the grocery aisle
(NC) With the shrinking loonie and rising cost of groceries, Canadians are finding it a challenge to keep their refrigerators full and the pantries stocked. Most find themselves constantly running back to the store to replenish the staple products they need and are desperately looking for ways to save.
This is what Katia François was experiencing before she decided to take control of her situation. The 37 year-old professional civil servant and mother from Ottawa started following daily sales offers at different stores, clipping coupons, and on a recommendation from a friend, downloaded on her phone a new savings app called Zweet.
This is when things started to change. Not only was she saving on staple items she needed at home, she was receiving cash back cheques from savings on her grocery purchases. The new app was designed to replace cumbersome grocery coupons with a next generation model where shoppers take a picture of their receipt, upload to Zweet’s mobile app to confirm the claimed purchases from weekly offers and watch the savings accumulate in their account within 24 hours. Once they hit the $20 mark in their account users can request to have a cheque mailed to them.
François is one of over 300,000 Canadians across the country that have downloaded the free mobile app to take advantage of the cash back savings on popular products from companies such as Danone, Mondelēz, L’Oréal, Frito-Lay and Pfizer with many more brands joining every day.
In just 11 months and with practically no promotion over 600,000 receipts have been submitted and over $370,000 have been earned by users. Most people hear about the app through word of mouth from friends and family.
Shoppers learn about discount offers via weekly emails or by browsing the app. Discounts are offered on everything from cereal, milk and packaged goods to fruits and vegetables. While they’re saving on their groceries, consumers can also accumulate points for each product claimed. Points can then be redeemed for retailer gift cards, like Tim Hortons, or offered as cash donations to charity.
“As a mother and a professional I’m always looking for ways to save on the increasing costs of groceries and when I discovered this app I was amazed at how easy it was and how much money I was saving per month,” added François.
François fits the profile of the majority of Zweet users as 86 per cent are women from 21-48 years-old with a post-secondary education and 63 per cent have children.
“The feedback we’ve been receiving from both consumers and companies has been phenomenal. It’s what keeps us motivated to continue bringing more and more amazing deals to Canadians,” said CEO Eduardo Mandri. More information is available at www.zweet.com.
