Barrhaven makeup artist – the importance of using chemical free cosmetics

Professional Makeup Artist using only Pure, Safe & Beneficial products by Arbonne

How many of us are conscious of the products we purchase to consume or put on our bodies but don’t put a seconds thought into what the professionals are using when we venture out our front door for services such as pedicures, massages, makeovers, facials and hair care?

Being cautious and researching the products used by these health & beauty professionals is a must for anyone that wants to keep their body clear from the toxins & harmful ingredients that we check for on a daily basis within our own shopping regiments.

Being chemical free six days of the week only to pollute your body & skin the other day of the week can reverse the effects of your organs being cleansed and free from dangerous & harmful chemicals.

Barrhaven Arbonne Sales Representative

Being a Regional Vice President with Arbonne International and a huge supporter of pure and safe products I decided to take my love for cosmetics & chemical free products to the next level. In June 2016 I got certified as a Professional Makeup Artist so that I could offer a service to clients that meant they knew exactly what was going on their skin. 100% of the cosmetics and skincare that I use are Arbonne and this means the clients leave knowing that they don’t have to worry about dangerous substances on their skin being inside their organs within just 26 seconds. Yes, I said 26 seconds!!! That is all it takes for the products on our skin to be in our organs & our bloodstream. Think about that next time you are putting your favourite peach coloured lip gloss on or rubbing your steal of a deal body lotion into you & your babies skin. Read the ingredients & make sure that you are comfortable with all of that being in your insides before you apply it to your outer body.

Now, if you are already cautious of the ingredients in the skincare & beauty products that you buy then good for you! You are one step ahead of the average person. But are you taking the same level of care knowing what your service providers are using on you? If not, it is never too late to start. Any decent beautician/hair stylist/masseuse will be happy and comfortable discussing with you the product lines that they use & the ingredients in them. Some professionals may not know much about the ingredients because let’s be honest most of the ingredients names are virtually impossible to pronounce & the list is endless. If the service provider does not know what the ingredient does or if it is harmful or not, then pick up your phone and google it. Never feel pressured to use a product that you are uncomfortable using. If you find your hairdresser or makeup artist uses a lot of products that have harmful ingredients in them then switch services. You may look beautiful on the outside because of their work but think what you look like on the inside & then ask yourself – is it worth it?

Arbonne Safe Pure Cosmetics

If you are unaware of what chemicals you should be avoiding, then here is an overview of in my opinion the popular ones on the market that are harmful and toxic.

BENZENE – Amongst 20 most widely used chemicals in the United States. A natural part of crude oil & gasoline that has been strongly linked to causing Leukemia & other cancers of blood cells.

BISPHENOL A (BPA) – An industrial chemical used to make certain plastics. The FDA expresses concern about the potential effects of BPA on the brain, behaviour & prostate glands in fetuses, infants & young children.

PARABENS – Parabens are the most widely used preservative in cosmetics. They mimic the hormone estrogen & have been detected in human breast cancer tissues, suggesting a possible association between parabens in cosmetics and cancer. Parabens also cause increased skin aging & DNA damage. Parabens have been found in breast milk.

FORMALDEHYDE-DONATING PRESERVATIVES – Highly toxic chemical & preservative. Very toxic to our immune system, nervous system and it is also a major carcinogen.

MINERAL OIL – A distillation of petroleum. Considered ‘comedogenic’ which means can clog your pores and increase the risk of acne & blackheads. Increases premature aging of the skin by drying it out.

PHTHALATES – Group of chemicals that make products softer & more flexible. It is a human carcinogen.

TALC – A soft mineral used in cosmetics & personal care products. Some studies have found a link to ovarian and lung cancer.

SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE – Widely used & inexpensive chemical found in many mainstream personal hygiene products. Can result in harmful skin irritation & there has been a lot of discussion of the chemical being linked to cancer.

Arbonne non-toxic cosmetics

Being aware of if the products you are using are cruelty-free or not may also be a huge deciding factor for you when booking a personal care service. For example; Arbonne is a vegan certified company & is also PETA’s number one approved cosmetic company as we have never nor will ever test on animals. Arbonne also refrains from using animal products or by-products.

So what are animal bi-products? This next paragraph is not for the squeamish animal lovers, or maybe it is…..

COLLAGEN – Use in anti-aging products. Most collagen in skincare products is made from chicken feet & ground-up animal horns.

HYALURONIC ACID – Used in anti-ageing skincare products as an antioxidant. Most products you buy in a store will contain Hyaluronic Acid made from Rooster comb (the red floppy part on the head of a rooster).

CARMINE – Red dye often used in lipsticks, blush, and eyeshadow. It is made from the pigment of the crushed female cochineal insect.

GLUCOSAMINE – Skincare ingredient thought to be barrier enhancing, moisturising & help even out skin tone. Found in many animal’s exoskeletons & bone marrow.

FAKE VANILLA FRAGRANCE – Extracting vanilla can be a very expensive process, but not if it’s extracted from cow dung – which is on the rise in some countries.

ELASTIN – Found in anti-aging skin care products. This is actually a protein extracted from the neck ligaments & aortas of cows.

CRYSTALLINE GUANINE – Ever wondered what creates your pearly iridescent effect in shampoo, nail polish & eyeshadow? Crystalline Guanine is extracted from fish scales.

KERATIN – Many hair care products use this. It is extracted from ground up horns. Hooves feathers, quills & hair of various animals.

If that doesn’t make you want to check that your products are vegan certified & free of animal by-products I don’t know what will!

Arbonne Barrhaven

So, I will leave you with this thought. We only live one life and we all know it is precious. Because of that, we take precautions every day without thinking about them, putting our seatbelts on when we go for a drive, locking the house doors at night time, holding on to the bannister as we walk down the stairs. But for a lot of people we don’t give a second thought as to the personal hygiene & beauty products that we slap all over our faces & bodies & how they could be making us ill and even worse, killing us. Just imagine if changing your skincare brand & shopping elsewhere for your glossy lipstick could prolong your life, eliminate chances of you getting sick & better still – do the same for your family!

Remember it doesn’t stop at your front door – why use services that are willing to put harmful chemicals on your body & charge you for it? Use businesses that care about their clients enough to keeping them safe while also making them feel great about themselves.

If anyone is looking for a makeup artist that uses high quality, pure, safe & beneficial products then please contact me & I would be happy to discuss my services, likewise if you are interested in switching your personal care brands I would be happy to talk with you and have samples available for you to try out:
