New local bakery specializes in allergy safe treats

Today’s guest post is about a new local startup that will be of interest to Barrhaven parents who’s children suffer from food allergies. DollyDoll Cupcake Co. is a new local business that’s seeking to provide the community with wholesome treats made with allergy safe ingredients. They’re a new business who are hoping to grow with help from a new crowd funding campaign, so it’s a great opportunity to get directly involved in a local success story!

DollyDoll Cupcake Company in North Gower

DollyDoll Cupcake Co. is a vegan/allergen free bakery located in North Gower. The recipes used in the bakery were developed by Shelley Jones because of her middle son’s diet restrictions.  He was born with 22 allergies!

Shelley and her daughter, Anya, developed the bakery concept six years ago to help raise money for the women’s shelters in Comox Valley, B.C.  The idea of the bakery grew from a shared vision with her young daughter to a business they could run together.

After years of perfecting her recipes, Shelly is now ready to share them with the community in hopes of making the lives of people suffering with food allergies safer and more convenient. All products offered at DollyDoll are 100% free from peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, soy, eggs, milk, sulphites, mustard, fish, preservatives and artificial colourings.

The bakery will also custom make products to fit any dietary needs. Many of their products are made from local ingredients, including flour from Upper Canada Village. This vegan, eco-conscious store is the first of its kind with a delivery service.  They cater to local events and have “L’il Baker’s” classes throughout all seasons and March Break.

Shelley and her baked goods were recently featured on a CTV morning show. You can view the video here.
