Barrhaven magician Elliott Smith to perform at the world famous Friars Club in NYC

Today I have the pleasure of writing about a local artist who’s leaving his mark on the worldwide stage. This performer isn’t a musician or singer (that I know of), but he’s an amazing magician who’s been entertaining crowds since the tender age of 6 years old.

Some of you may know Barrhaven resident Elliott Smith. I’m sure many of you may have seen him perform. If you haven’t, make sure to catch one of his shows if the opportunity arises. He’s a magician in the classic definition of the word, and always leaves you wanting more. He’s mastered both the element of surprise and tricks involving slight of hand. He’s an entertainer who amazes both the young and old.

Elliott’s talents haven’t gone unnoticed outside the confines of Barrhaven, or even our country. Elliott was recently been chosen to perform at the prestigious Friars club in New York City, a stage that’s been graced by the who’s who of comedy: Milton Berle, Buddy Hackett, Sid Caesar, Steve Allen, Jeffrey Ross, Ed McMahon, and Phyllis Diller – just to name a few.

He will be appearing at the club on May 13. Rumours are swirling that Woody Allen might be in attendance, but this would not be the first time Elliot has performed in front of other celebrities. He’s entertained several well known personalities over the years, including Pierre Trudeau, Jay Leno and even Liberace. He’s only the second magician to have ever performed at the Friars Club – a great honour indeed.

So you may wonder why a magician has been invited to perform at what is considered a world class comedy establishment? Well, as it turns out, Elliott is not only a magician, but also a talented humorist. He’ll quickly point out that most of the world’s most famous magicians have often incorporated an element of humor in their acts.

With over 40 years of experience under his belt, Elliott is once again making Barrhaven proud. We all wish him the best with his performance at the Friars club on May 13th.
